Founded in 2001 by Lawrence Azerrad, LADdesign specializes in developing impactful creative experiences for everything our team loves most: music, culture, and educational institutions.
Since launching, we’ve had the privilege of developing comprehensive visual identity systems and graphic design for clients such as Sting, Universal Music Group, UC San Diego, USC Roski School of Art and Design, Blue Note Records, Silversun Pickups, Esperanza, Spalding, Wilco, Skirball Cultural Center, The Beach Boys, WeTransfer, and UCLA.
As a close-knit group of obsessive music, tech, and culture nerds, we also generate and collaborate on initiatives for Designing the Future of Music
Behind the studio
LAWRENCE AZERRAD, FOUNDER — Azerrad is an award winning art director, graphic designer, and author based in Los Angeles. Prior to opening LADdesign, he was an art director at Warner Bros Records and created packaging and artwork for artists including Miles Davis and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2017, he won a Grammy for his work as the producer and creative director for The Voyager Golden Record 40th Anniversary Edition. The record embodies a sense of possibility and hope, and serves as a reminder of what we can achieve when we’re at our best—and that our future really is up to all of us.
Pursuing his love of design in all forms, Azerrad’s first book, Supersonic: The Design and Lifestyle of Concorde, was released by Prestel in September 2018. It’s available just about everywhere books are sold.
